6 Ways to Make Usage of a Spare Room

August, 2017

Has your spare room been neglected? It’s probably the smallest room in the house and more often than not it’s used as a room to dump the laundry or for storage. However, that spare room could be the additional space you’ve been craving. And it's right at your fingertips!

You just need to know what to do with it. Here are a few ideas to get you feeling inspired!

The home office

You’d be able to work from home more and get so much done - all without the problems of a hectic commute. The desk can also act as a dressing table and a place to store some smaller items like books, jewellery, wash bags, etc. By using this room as your home office this will also allow you to move all your work items from the living area and make more of your communal space…

A walk-in wardrobe

One for the shopaholics and fashionistas. You can solve all of your problems by building a walk-in wardrobe or dressing room.

The man cave

Every guy dreams of the perfect “man cave”. So what’s stopping you from making one out of your spare bedroom? Just put in a comfy chair, the games consoles, tv and a mini fridge. Don’t feel left out though ladies, you could create a den of your own!

Reading room

For the serious bookworms out there, a safe haven for reading the latest bestseller is the dream. Arrange your books by genre or author and store within nifty shelving units. Don’t forget to add in comfortable seating with a soft blanket for those colder nights.

Studio

Whether you’re an art fanatic or love photography, a home studio is the perfect place to get creative. Ideally a room with lots of natural light works best - all you need to do is arrange your chair and your workstation and you’re good to go!

A children’s play room

Rather than cluttering up the children’s bedrooms with mountains of toys, perhaps consider a playroom for them. Put in smaller plastic furniture, easy to clean floors and fill the walls with their paintings and drawings! A safe space for the children to play and make a mess in (leaving the rest of your house safe!)
